Found a Foot

Today you discovered a foot.

These feet have been with you these 3 magical months of your life but today they came into focus. Your hand brushed one and tactile awareness of your feet was made. You grabbed your big toe and hoped to thrust it into your mouth… but it just wouldn’t reach. You squealed with both frustration and delight. You stroked your foot with the top and palm side of your hand and I thought it was one of the most beautiful moments. I told you all the wonderful things that your feet do. How they will feel in the sand at the beach and how these feet will carry you through many experiences in your life.. with often little appreciation. These feet are strong and flexible and bear the weight of your entire being.. They make you taller on your toes and they will help you have balance in your life.

We giggled together… and then you went back to grabbing your fantastic amazing foot.

Letters to my darling E.

Thanks for the memories. I’m the mom of 4 adults and grandmother to 5 and I love being reminded of the sweetness and amazing journey of watching the babies learn and discover themselves and the world and the amazing way their brains develop.
